Darktide is the newest co-op shooter from developer Fatshark. After the success that Vermintide 1 and 2 garnered, Fatshark has embraced the grimdark setting of the 41st Millenium with Darktide. But after a somewhat rocky start, they seem to be hard at work bringing new content and fixing some apparent issues.

New additions

Among the many additions, we have a pair of new weapons. The Zealot will be getting a two-handed “Indignatus Mk IVe Crusher”, allowing him to bring the Emperor’s justice with brute force. The Ogryn has also received a new melee weapon in the shape of the one-handed “Achlys Mk I Power Maul”.

You can try out these new weapons in the newly added “Comms-Plex 154/2f” mission. Your main task during this mission will be to get to the roof of the HL-19-24 Archivum and transmit an urgent message to the Imperium. Getting there in one piece is a different story though, especially on higher difficulty ratings.

The Veteran class is a ranged-focused class, even though he can pull out his trusty melee weapon when needed. But the “Munitorum Mk III Power Sword” was a bit too powerful, turning the Veteran into a melee monster. So Fatshark has hit the power sword with the nerf hammer, tuning down the damage falloff for cleave attacks for targets beyond the third. This is a very needed nerf since the meta was slowly turning into parties of four Veterans trouncing their way through hordes of enemies.

There is a new private play mode at their disposal for people who prefer to play solo. If you’re interested in cosmetic packs, Fatshark has listened to the complaints and is now offering a 2400 Aquila pack. This means that you can buy cosmetic bundles without having to buy two 2000 Aquila packs like before, which made it seem like they were trying to trick you with basic math.

Crafting update

Since the crafting system was lacking, Fatshark is also focused on expanding it. Now you can refine weapon perks in the Shrine of the Omnissiah. Be careful, though. Refining a perk on a weapon will lock your other options, so choose carefully. In the item card view, these perks will also show their tier (in a 1 to 4 range).

While this change doesn’t entirely fix the crafting system issues, it’s a step in the right direction. Fatshark is aware of these issues and promised to improve the system with upcoming patches.
