FromSoftware has acknowledged that Elden Ring will get a DLC. The Colosseum will be available starting the 7th of December for no additional cost.

Back in March, fans that have a passion for searching through files found something. They discovered an unutilized colosseum in the game’s files. Many thought this would be used in a future DLC. And sure enough, they were correct. The one-minute teaser, which was recently released by FromSoftware, begins with Tarnished making an arduous journey across the Lands Between. Once he arrives at the enormous gates, he pushes them open to unveil the DLC.

How much will the Colosseum expansion cost?

The DLC is entirely free for everyone.

Brace yourself for a challenging PvP experience

As they mentioned: “Battle for glory in new PvP modes”, the addition will be a DLC that is PvP focused. Similar to Dark Souls, other FromSoftware games have multiplayer arenas where players may engage in online combat with other people to gain special equipment and benefits. Although it was a part of Dark Souls 2’s basic game, its arenas were only available as DLC for the first and third games, just like Elden Ring.

The fight arena is exactly what we would imagine when thinking about a colosseum fight, as the teaser can confirm. In contrast to a traditional colosseum, there aren’t any spectators applauding you or speculating on your success. You and another player are forced to battle to the death in a huge oval room, all by yourselves. It’s a completely alone and dark feeling, which is actually fitting for Elden Ring’s experience.

In the teaser posted, we can see the players are also summoning bosses by casting the Spirit Ashes. Being able to convoke monsters like the Mad Pumpkin Head kind of adds a PvE feeling to the experience, which in my opinion is great. On top of that, we can also notice they will feature multiplayer PvP. The video shows groups of three players fighting against each other side-by-side.

When will the DLC be released?

The PvP expansion will be released on the 7th of December.

The surprise addition to the game is the first one ever for Elden Ring, except for the regular patches and updates. Many fans are excited about tomorrow’s launch, however, we still wait to see what will the developers bring for the players that are focused on PvE and would rather choose single-player and enjoy a solo experience.
