New Starfield update out for consoles and PC

Starfield update 1.7.33

A new patch for Starfield fixes a bunch of issues you didn’t know where there, and none of the ones you did.

Bethesda just announced and released update 1.7.33 for Starfield, and before you get too excited, no it doesn’t include native DLSS for Nvidia cards yet. What it does have however is a handful of performance and stability fixes as well as tackling a few general gameplay issues.

This is not the large update they promised a few weeks ago at this point (at September 13th), that update is the one that’s supposed to include Brightness and Contrast controlls, HDR Calibration, a field of view slider, 32:9 aspect ratio (ultrawide) support, eat button for food, and eagerly awaited Nvidia DLSS support (for PC). No instead this is a relatively minor update, which might seem strange to us as it requires a 728.3 MB download, but I’m guessing this has to do with specific LOD (level of detail) texture files being redownloaded and replaced to fix the blurry texture issue (but that’s just a guess). Starfield 1.7.33 Update – Fixes and Improvements

General
  • Characters: Fixed an issue that could cause some characters to not be in their proper location.
  • Star Stations: Fixed an issue where Star Stations would be labeled as a player-owned ship.
  • Vendors: Addressed an issue that allowed for a vendor’s full inventory to be accessible.
Graphics
  • AMD (PC): Resolved an issue that caused star lens flares not to appear correctly AMD GPUs.
  • Graphics: Addressed an upscaling issue that could cause textures to become blurry.
  • Graphics: Resolved an issue that could cause photosensitivity issues when scrolling through the inventory menu.
Performance and Stability
  • Hand Scanner: Addressed an issue where the Hand Scanner caused hitching.
  • Various stability and performance improvements to address crashing and freezes.
Ships
  • Displays: Fixed an issue that would cause displayed items to disappear when applied to in-ship mannequins.
  • Displays: Fixed an issue that would cause items stored in Razorleaf Storage Containers and Weapon Racks to disappear after commandeering another ship.

As you can see most of these are minor fixes, with the blurry textures one likely being the most significant change players across the board (at least on PC) will actually notice. No word yet on when we can expect the larger patch which is supposed to arrive with DLSS support.

There have also been several other glaring issues, inefficiencies and fixes that have already been addressed by the modding community over on Nexus mods, not least of which are the ones adding DLSS and Field of View sliders to the game, but also other things like removing the stutter when changing weapons with a lot of attachments, fixing the strange delays when jumping between menus, fixing the strange side-look while running in third person, stopping NPC’s from always staring at you, and more. While players have hailed this as the least buggy Bethesda game (at launch) ever, many are also flabbergasted at just how quickly the modding community have fixed “obvious” issues Bethesda seemingly had a year of polish time to address and didn’t.
